The use of microscope and observation of bacteria:
Firstly we observed with the 4x objective a slide containing some letters cut from a newspaper. We concluded that the letters are magnified, upside down and specular compared to the letters seen at naked eye.
Then we observed procariotic cells contained in a commercial preparation of yogurt enriched with Lactobacilli, beneficial bacteria (probiotics) for the human intestine. We diluted in water a small volume of yogurt and then we prepared the slide. The cells were observed with the 40x objective (400x final magnification).
Finally, we observed an histological slide containing intestinal bacteria stained with the Gram technique.

During the one-week meeting, we held several important discussions regarding the continuation of the project, the tasks of each partner, the ways of communication and dissemination the project results. These are the main professional results of the discussions:
Preparation of Europass Documents for Italy and Czech R. LTT Mobilities
We set some rules for depositing photos and documents in Google Drive space, agreed on using E-twinning more actively, Hungary should create a page on E-twinning as a host school;
E-mail is the main way of communication
Discussing a topic each month - Theme for October: Global Warming
Holding regular Videoconferences - Partners in charge: Turkey - October; Italy - November; Czech Republic - December; Hungary - January, Spain - February;
Updating school websites with LTSDU material
Sending the latest project news to Mustafa or Pavel
The dates of mobilities in La Llagosta, Spain: 26 February - 4 March 2018 and San Giovanni Valdarno, Italy: 9-13 April 2018;

Hello Friends. Thanks again for visiting us at our school three times instead of two. It was a pleasure for us. Excuse us again for the faulty WI-FI connection. I was only sorry you couldn't spend more time in Siena as we had planned and visit the museum and university there too. The town is so beautiful it deserves a long visit.
For future meetings I wish to remind you that we can have presentations, team work and group meetings in other places than schools too. We don't need to use school facilities at all cost. Here it's me talking on a presentation in a Thermal resort in Turkey in October 2014. This is the restaurant room of the hotel where we were staying in.
In March 2014 we had our last meeting and team work event in a restaurant in S. Giovanni as it was Sunday. Teams had a drawing competition and we had a certificate ceremony and a meeting with the mayor, who even brought some presents for the students. We could have a large room all to ourselves for 5 hours for the cost of the dinner only (13 euro pp).

Roberto Avenante

29. leden 2017

hello. I was thinking that maybe you could also bring the same presentations you showed in Barcellona and show them in a conference. We could call it: "The school systems in Spain, Italy, Czech Republic, Hungary and Turkey compared in the light of the results on PISA 2015". What do you think?
You'd just explain in English your school systems. Their position in the PISA charts. What the strong points and what the weak points are.
My students would provide a translation into Italian and the public would be the teachers of my school that are interested and want to take part. They would ask questions too. Do you feel like speaking to a wide audience? Let me know what you think. It's just an idea.

Roberto Avenante I forgot to tell you that the conference is Mustafa's idea. He asked me for a conference and a visit to the University. The Visit is on Monday 6 at 3 pm, the Conference is on Tuesday 7 at 4 pm. But PISA alone is too boring. School assessment in Italy is not very popular, many of us object to it. That's why I proposed to reuse the presentations we did for Barcellona together with the new ones on Pisa in your countries. Our Pisa is called INVALSI and we are forced to do it every year. So it's not an appaling subject for Italian teachers

Teaching staff Meeting Post Transnational.

Yesterday we met all the teachers at INS Marina and we introduced them the project, its objectives and results expected as well as showing them all the tasks we've been doing these last months.
First, we focused on the project difusion on the local newspaper 08centvuit , the school's magazine, creation of the project's blog and other social networks. We also talked about the project team formed by science teachers and students from 4th ESO.
Secondly, we mentioned the last transnational meeting hold between the 30th November to 3rs of December in 2016 where we met each other, we introduced our schools and school systems, and we also spent some afternoons in some cultural activities such as going to science exhibitions at Museu Blau or Cosmocaixa. We thanked to Óscar Sierra, La Llagosta's mayor, for his tour. It was the best way to meet the village's culture.
In conclusion, we state that this project will be quite positive for our students to improve their science subjects marks' but also, it's a great chance for them to visit another school in another culture and get to know their customs and values.

About the online distance conference we had yesterday, I must say I found it very useful both as an occasion to experiment distance conference and as for its content. It's a pity we were not able to record it, or I was not able for my part, I don't know about yourselves. Now, as I said, in the project we proposed to have 4 days of teachers' training and one day of trips when you come here in March. So I am supposed to organize some training for you, for the group. I contacted all the universities of the area by email and just one answered. They were the faculty of primary education where they form primary school teachers. I think that we all teach in secondary schools, don't we? And even so, they were not sure as how they could have helped us.
Moreover, we are keeping most of our distance communications in our group chat. I hope we can document them correctly afterwards. I wonder if we shouldn't use this page instead, I mean fb's frontpage in order to document all the debates and exchange of ideas that we are having.
In the conference, Jana proposed to come to school for activities in the morning, and then go on educational trips in the afternoons. Even so, 4 days at school seem too many. But is two too few?
I wondered if we shouldn't have a different approach.
My idea is that there are teachers' communities in all countries. These communities are always meeting and exchanging ideas in their national languages. They meet on facebook or in discussion boards online. Some meet on Etwinning. In our case we have a group called Professione insegnanti on Facebook. It has over 60.000 members. ANother group is La classe capovolta (the flipped classroom). I am sure you could visit some of these virtual agoras of teachers where teachers from your single countries meet and discuss from time to time and get a general idea about which innovative methods are more popular right now with your countries, and what problems they have in teaching scientific matters.
You can understand for yourselves that it has no meaning if we provide you with education and training in one or two scientific subjects or topics on your trip here in Italy. We should offer you training about methods. If I am not mistaken the next training trip is March 2018 in Spain. They will choose to train us on something too. In my case I am thinking of welcoming you in one of our computer labs and give you some training in immersive teaching. That could be an idea. But if you have any other option to propose, please tell me.

An example of a lesson prepared on Edmondo by an Italian teacher. It's about the origin of Man.
This gives you an idea of the power and fascination of this media for captivating student's attention. The teacher teaches from inside a sort of videogame, that is the kind of media most of our students love and follow with attention.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yrO7Mgyh_E&feature=share
This media is in its turn used in flipped classroom methods, as the teacher puts a series of tasks inside the video and invites the students to follow it at home.

In one of the NA meetings I have recently had, they recommended me to use this website/wiki space to work in the project. Probably you already know it, they adviced us that everyone's suggestions/works keep recorded on this space. We'll probably use it in our teaching project's team to share everything we do. People can get updated quite easily ( they get notifications via mail) and messages on emails don't get lost. I suggest also its use in our project, what do you think?

Roberto Avenante Personally, especially with the help of our Spanish friends I am learning a lot about how to use tools like the ones offered by Google forms as well as this portal, wikihosting. Now to be honest I am also a bit slow. At school we are implementing moodle too. And I know this portal is spreading fast among schools and universities.
